Outdoor Family Sessions

For some stunning photographs that you will treasure for the rest of your life why not let me capture beautiful family portraits in the great outdoors.  I advise getting outdoors once your little one is on the move and exploring the world around them. Children feel most at ease when they are running around exploring the outdoors in the company of their loved ones. So, that’s exactly what I aim to do, to capture some stunning portrait photographs in a location that your little ones will love. It’s important to me to spend some time getting to know your child/children so that they feel comfortable with me.  This session will last around 45 minutes.  I can do the session at a time to best suit your needs, however, the absolute best light of the day for stunning portraits is an hour or two before  the sun goes down.  This time will obviously change depending on the time of year but I will try to reflect this on my availability.  If you have any questions about the best time to book your session, please contact me.

This session isn’t restricted to adults and children.  I love it when your pooch gets involved.  You may want the session to be just for you and your fur baby, which is absolutely fine, as they are your family.

It would be best to use a location on your doorstep, such as Roundhay Park, Temple Newsam or Golden Acre Park all stunning locations with picturesque landscapes that will make the perfect backdrop for your family portraits.

Living in Yorkshire can make for some very unpredictable weather. While a little bit of rain can make for lots of fun for your little one to jump around in, it would not be expected for you to attend the session in a thunderstorm! Under the circumstances of severe weather, I will try my best to re-schedule your session for as soon as possible.

When choosing what to wear for the session, I would advise that everyone wears the same tones (e.g. navy blues/creams) so that the photographs keep a consistent theme. Please be wary of patterns and logs, as they can distract from the image. In the warmer weather, I would recommend jeans and a plain t-shirt for boys, and a simple dress for girls. To maintain a sense of simplicity I’d say go for a natural everyday look so that the portrait photographs capture you in your true light. However, in the more chilly weather, I’d suggest chunky knitwear, rain coats, hats, scarves and welly boots, which all work well.
